Sport England Clubmark status was first awarded to the cricket club on the 23rd November 2004 by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Clubmark accreditation recognises that St Georges Cricket Club is a safe, effective and child-friendly club. Re-accreditation was awarded in 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 & 2022, ensuring we continue to meet the high standards expected. An annual “health check” audit is carried out each year.

Safeguarding of Young Cricketers – St Georges Cricket Club has adopted the Safeguarding of Young Cricketers policy issued by the ECB. Requirements include:

Summer Coaching Sessions  – will commence on Monday, 28th April on the Cricket Ground. Sessions will be held every week until 18th August. Depending on numbers attending and availability of coaches, the club will reserve the right to restrict attendance by holding a waiting list for new members. We would like to remind you that our coaches will only take responsibility for children at the sessions between 6.30pm and 8.00pm and you must sign your child both IN and OUT. We ask that parents/guardians of our younger children remain in attendance during the session in order to help with toilet visits, deal with minor knocks and bumps and sometimes provide emotional support where necessary. The coach may be unable to do these things without bringing the session to a halt.

Children should bring a water bottle and sunscreen where appropriate. Chewing gum is not allowed.

We will be running additional sessions for older juniors on a Friday evening commencing 25th April.

In case of poor weather, please look out for messages in TEAMO in case we have to cancel a session for rain or poor ground conditions.

Girls & Ladies Cricket – We are keen to recruit both girls and boys. Depending on numbers, we may also again have a girls-only practice group. The club also has a Ladies team who this year will be playing softball cricket, so this may be of interest to older girls.

Kit for Matches – we do expect all juniors who represent St Georges Cricket Club in cricket matches to wear a St Georges cricket shirt and white cricket trousers. Caps if worn must be St Georges Cricket caps. Kit details can be found in the Documents section in TEAMO. Mike Waldron will be collecting second hand kit. Please donate any unwanted/outgrown kit by contacting Mike on 07847 358735 or email Message Mike Waldron

Annual Junior Subscriptions - Our Annual Subscriptions (covering the cost of all coaching sessions and any matches) will again not be increased this year and remain one of the lowest in the area. Subscriptions for 2025 will remain at £30.00 for years 1 - 3 and £40 for all other age groups, with a discounted fee of 50% for second and subsequent siblings. St Georges Cricket Club is dedicated to promoting junior cricket and whilst we rely on subscriptions to run the club, please talk to us if this causes financial difficulty.

Social Club Membership – We encourage parents who use the bar at St Georges Sports & Social Club to become a member. Annual membership is £15 for an adult or £25 for a couple and entitles you to a 10% discount on drinks.

Junior Cricket Committee – The Club has a separate junior committee to oversee the development of junior cricket. If you would like to join the Junior Committee or help in any way please contact Mike Waldron on 07847 358735 – Email Message Mike Waldron

Register Taker – As part of our Safeguarding measures we take a register at the Monday evening . It is important that parents/guardian sign their children both IN and OUT. This is necessary so that we know that all children have been safely collected.

 Fund Raising

Our membership subscriptions remain some of the lowest in the area and represents good value for money, when taking into account the hours of enjoyment youngsters can take from cricket. However, we do need youngsters & their families to support our fund-raising events - please help as best you can.

Sponsorship – We are always in need of new sponsors, as the costs of running our club are much higher than the revenue we collect from subscriptions. If you work for or know a company that might like to sponsor the Cricket Club please speak to one of the committee. We would welcome your ideas and help to raise funds to support club development.

Volunteers (Adults & Teenagers) - There is a lot of work to be done and if you could help in any way, please let us know. The club is looking for “registered” helpers to support the coaches at coaching sessions and help out on match days. This can be a good way of preparing to undertake a coaching qualification which the Club can fund. Alternatively, you may want to help in other ways such as providing organisational support, scoring, transport, supervising, being a first aider, ground work, etc. If you think you may be able to offer some help, please speak to Mike Waldron (Chair of the Junior Committee) on 07847 358735.

We hope the children have an enjoyable summer of cricket with us!
